Multiple Teeth Replacement With Dental Implants
Simi Valley, CA

Replacing multiple missing, or unhealthy teeth, with dental implants can significantly improve your oral health and allow you to comfortably chew your regular diet. Dental implants provide our patients who are missing multiple teeth with many options in prosthetics following the placement of an implanted post. Once healed, the post will stabilize the appropriate dental device as decided on in your planning phase. A member of our team of oral surgeons will meet with you, and after a thorough evaluation help you create a treatment plan that suits your needs. Working with our staff at Westlake Oral and Plastic Surgery at Simi Valley, we can help you achieve a healthy, functional smile.

When a patient has lost multiple teeth, it will affect their health in some ways. This includes:
•  A loss of function: Missing multiple teeth will affect how you chew food and what you can chew. A frequent change that we see is patients choosing to eat more predominantly on one side, causing excessive wear on those teeth. Some patients find that there are certain foods that they no longer can chew at all.
•  A loss of aesthetics: Missing multiple teeth can alter your look in a few ways. Most obviously, patients may have missing teeth when they speak or smile. Patients may compensate by altering their smile to not show teeth at all, meaning that their smile is smaller or less bright. Patients will also experience a change in their look when they experience bone loss due to missing teeth. Following the loss of teeth, patients experience a dramatic decrease in jawbone mass, altering the look of their jaw and often giving their face an older appearance.
•  A loss of bone: When a patient loses a tooth, the jawbone immediately responds with atrophy. This is due to the lack of exercise. As you chew with your teeth, the motion is transferred to the root and then to the bone providing necessary exercise to the jaw to stay healthy. When this connection is lost due to a missing tooth, so is the motion, and the bone immediately begins to decrease in size. The only way to restore the motion of your jaw is through restoring the root, and the only way to restore the root after it has been lost is with dental implants.
•  Remaining teeth shift: Missing teeth leaves room for remaining teeth to roam, adjusting your bite, which can lead to TMJ dysfunction. When a dentist removes a tooth for orthodontic reasons it is in a controlled way. When a patient loses a tooth without an orthodontic plan then the remaining teeth move in an uncontrolled way.

Following the surgical implantation of your implants at Westlake Oral and Plastic Surgery at Simi Valley, your referring dentist can then attach the prosthetic of choice to the posts. This may include a dental crown, bridge, a partial denture, or even a full denture. The number of implants that need to be placed is dependant on the number of teeth missing and the prosthetic that is going to be used.
